Favorite Food: steaks & shrimp on the grill

 Favorite TV Show: Lost was great; FlashForward was very good – but cancelled

Favorite Movie: well, I’m a guy, so (obviously): Jeremiah Johnson (1970s), Red Dawn (1980s), Braveheart (1990s), Last of the Mohicans, The Patriot, virtually any Clint Eastwood (timeless), the last (new) Star Trek, Clash of the Titans, Serenity, The Star Wars franchise, LOTR, Dances with Wolves, Avatar was good (Dances with Wolves with tall, deadly  smurfs) and many others

Favorite Pastime: trout, surf fishing, hunting season, canoeing, backpacking and camping, a week at the beach with my family, waterfowl, reading in the hammock, tinkering with and shooting 19th century infantry rifles, theology with coffee, ecology, sustainable lifestyles 

Personal Heroes: people who have mentored me (my deepest gratitude), people who invest themselves in relieving the suffering of the world, especially the developing world (again, my thanks)

Random Fact: (2 claims to fame)

1)      I was on the environmental biology field team that got the California gnatcatcher on the Endangered Species list;

2)       when I was 2  years old I sat next to Johnny Carson on a flight from California to Chicago (he was not happy with me)

 

(1 claim to greatness) I married a girl from West Virginia
